A gifted musician, award winning child advocate and humanitarian, Macheis Wind has developed and implemented life-changing creative arts programs for numerous organizations, designed to motivate, heal, and inspire. These concert/seminars and workshops are an education and prevention tool, and a way towards wellness and character development through music.
Macheis Wind is the founder and director of the nonprofit organization, Guitar Tree. He has spent more than two decades dedicated to bringing the healing power of music to children and adults in domestic violence safe houses, homeless shelters, residential facilities for at-risk youth, a maximum security women’s prison and many other venues where trauma and emotional pain are intense and ever present – what he calls the “hidden worlds.” Macheis has developed many creative approaches to enhancing healing and empowerment in these volatile and complex settings. Often, he will create songs out of client’s lives and stories that are beautiful and powerful. He has written about this work in his new book, More Than This: Music, Healing and the Triumph Over Violence.
